Method
- Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking pan with parchment paper, leaving excess hanging over the edges of the pan. This will allow you to remove the dessert from the pan for easy cutting
- You’ll prepare the blondie and brownie batter in two separate bowls.
- Blondie batter-Melt 1 cup of the unsalted butter and in a large bowl, mix with the light brown sugar, vanilla extract and 1/3 cup of the granulated sugar. Once smooth, add one egg and combine. Add 1/2 tsp of the salt and the baking soda and mix. Then fold in 1/2 cup of the flour and all of the chocolate chips and set aside
- Brownie batter-Melt the remaining butter and bittersweet chocolate and combine until smooth. Add the remaining egg and blend. Mix in your remaining salt and granulated sugar. The batter will become grainy- this is okay! Fold in your flour and blend until smooth.
- Layer the batters in the baking pan and smooth over with a spatula to swirl together. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the blondie batter is golden brown. Test the batter with a toothpick or fork to check for doneness. Garnish with caramel sauce (optional) or other toppings and serve warm.
